Four fire departments responded and arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house. It took crews just over an hour to bring the blaze under control.

One firefighter received a minor injury and was transported to the hospital by an EMS crew. Another EMS crew standing by at the scene attempted to save the life of a pet cat with oxygen and CPR but the cat succumbed to smoke inhalation.

  1. I thought the Clayton FD had a ladder truck. Sorry about the pet but I am glad no other people were injured.
