Firefighters Extricate Driver Pinned In Crash

ANGIER – A driver was pinned inside their car following a two vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in southwestern Johnston County. The accident was reported around 2:30pm on Old Fairground Road at Stephenson Road.

According to the State Highway Patrol, a Ram pickup was headed northbound on Old Fairground Road when a Toyota passenger car, which had stopped on Stephenson Road to make a left turn, pulled into the path of the truck. The truck struck the car in the driver’s side.

Crews from the West Johnston Fire Department extricated the Toyota driver, who was transported to WakeMed with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup was evaluated at the scene by paramedics but was not transported. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Johnston County deputies helped detour traffic for more than an hour until the intersection could be reopened.
