Firefighters Rescue Dog From Burning Home

A family of five including their dog are safe after a fire started in the attic of their two story home. It happened late Friday at 40 Ryans Lane, just outside Clayton city limits.

A mother and her children were able to get out safely. The family dog was initially unaccounted for but firefighters battling the blaze found him hiding in a first floor bathroom behind the toilet.  The dog was reunited with his family outside the home.

The Fire Marshall is still investigating the cause. The home was so extensively damaged it may be a total loss.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family with a place to stay.

The Clayton, Garner, Archer Lodge and East Wake Fire Departments responded to the scene. Johnston County EMS also stood by in case they were needed. Photos by JoCoFire.com
