Multiple Fire Departments Respond To House Fire

CLAYTON – Fire departments from Johnston and Wake counties responded to a house fire Friday morning. The blaze was reported around 10:00am at a home in the 100 block of Marcellus Way, in the Riverwood community, off Loop Road near Clayton.

A total of 13 fire departments were dispatched, including a tanker task force to shuttle water to the scene. The departments included: Northside, Clayton, Corinth Holders, Cleveland, Elevation, Four Oaks, Garner, Kenly, Knightdale, Micro, Pine Level, Smithfield, and Zebulon Fire Departments.

Just after 12:00 noon the fire was brought under control. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

  1. So thankful no injuries were reported and thankful for the brave firefighters who put their life in the line. I hope Johnston county commissioners will consider putting a moratorium on housing developments if it takes 13 departments for one house fire. It’s obvious that the infrastructure to support these housing developments is not capable to protect them.

  2. Very sorry for what the family is going through and obviously they’re the most important part of this story.

    With that in mind it is great to see the strong mutual aid between the two counties that has only increased in recent years. This does not happen everywhere, even in our own region. It makes a difference and does save lives and property.

    Good leadership and great responders make a difference.

  3. The need fo tankers means a few things..1 house was far away from closest hydrant 2 if a hydrant was close by only 1 or 2 trucks can hook to it so need more trucks to haul water from further away
