FOUR OAKS – Several units from the Four Oaks Fire Department responded to a report of a tractor trailer fire this afternoon (Monday) on the Interstate 95 southbound exit ramp at Keen Road.
Around 3:00pm, a truck driver was traveling southbound on I-95 when he noticed smoke coming from the rear of the trailer. The trailer was filled with bales of cotton. He called 911 reporting the fire. As a precaution the semi tractor was disconnected from the trailer.
Fire crews opened the trailer and determined there was no fire inside. Upon closer examination it was determined the brakes on the trailer had overheated.
No injuries were reported.
