A firefighter died Saturday evening after responding to the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Firefighter John Morris Davis Jr. had responded to the scene of a 7:00 PM accident on Princeton-Kenly Road where a pickup truck had overturned against a power pole trapping the driver inside for about one hour.
Davis, 45, a volunteer for the Kenly Fire Department, was assisting at the scene when he began to experience chest pains and was transported to the hospital where he died.
Davis is survived by his wife, Dwaina Davis, and his three children, Courtney Davis, Autumn Davis, and Hanna Holland, as well as his father, John Davis, Sr., and half-brother, James Daniel Grice.
Funeral arrangements for Firefighter Davis are pending.
