After nearly 11 months of delays, a contract has been awarded for work on the Partnership to Build a Miracle Inclusion Park and Miracle League Baseball Field at Smithfield Community Park.
Professional Services Group, LLC of Deland, Florida submitted the low bid of $399,999.99 for site work, grading and concrete for the park. An additional bid for the field, fencing, landscaping, playground equipment, field surfacing and utilities is expected to cost around $180,000. Combined the cost is about $580,000, lower than an initial bid of $665,000 received in February 2016, which was well over budget.
Parks and Recreation Director Gary Johnson said the price is now in line with the amount of money available for construction. Weather permitting, work is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
