CLAYTON – Five youth were injured when their golf cart overturned, Thursday afternoon. The mishap occurred on Tuscan Ridge Way, in the Estates of Tuscan Ridge subdivision, off NC 42 East.
Reports indicate the juveniles, believed to be between the ages of 11 and 14, were operating a golf cart on the state maintained street. The driver turned sharply and overturned, sliding into the side of a passing car, before coming to a stop.
Four of the juveniles were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. One person was treated and released at the scene.

Concerned parents rushed to the scene after the crash.
The driver of the car was headed to a friend’s house in the subdivision when his car was struck. He was not injured.
The State Highway Patrol investigated the collision.
They weren’t so concerned when they let their kids ride on a state road in a golf cart.
Was the underage, unlicensed, uninsured driver ticketed? Were the parents, who allowed this minor to operate a motor vehicle against the law ticketed? Isn’t operation of a motorized vehicle on state roadways illegal? Just asking.
It’s illegal, yes, and people in the neighborhood have complained about a few groups of kids being irresponsible for a while now. Nothing is ever done, and now this.
I hope the kids are okay, but I also hope the parents of these kids received a severe tongue lashing for permitting this to occur to begin with. It’s almost surely a violation of HOA regulations at a minimum, and it’s illegal at a maximizing. Do better parents. Your kids having ‘fun’ are getting on everyone else’s nerves!
