Four Oaks Community Rallies Around Family Following Tragic Death Of 12-Year-Old Boy

FOUR OAKS – Family, friends, classmates and members of the community will gather tonight (Monday) for a candlelight vigil honoring the life of 12-year-old Austin “AJ” Paradise, who died Sunday afternoon in an ATV accident in southern Johnston County.

AJ was a seventh-grade student at Four Oaks Middle School. His sudden death has left family members, friends and classmates mourning the loss of a young life.

The candlelight vigil will be held tonight, October 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Barbour Grove Gazebo in downtown Four Oaks.

Organizers are asking those attending to bring a candle to help light up the gazebo in AJ’s memory. The gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, teachers and the community to come together, remember AJ and offer comfort and support to his grieving family.

In addition to the vigil, community members are seeking donations to help AJ’s family cover funeral expenses.

According to one of the organizers, anyone wishing to contribute can make checks payable to Rose & Graham Funeral Home. Donations may be dropped off at tonight’s candlelight vigil or delivered directly to the funeral home’s locations in Benson or Four Oaks.

  1. How terrible. I can not imagine what his family is going through. My 8 year old son has a ATV at his dads house he rides and it just terrifies me. Rest in peace sweet boy in the arms of Jesus.

  2. I am sending a lot of prayers and hugs for the family..I personally don’t know him but I know that no parent should have to be in this position because 8 yrs ago on the 27th I had to experience it… so it will be a wound that will never heal and trust me the family will need support long after the service is done bc most people leave afterwards never thinking of once everyone is gone how much harder it gets… so I am so sorry for this family and will be praying for them daily as I have to for myself
