Fraud Suspects Return to Walmart

Three suspects wanted for obtaining merchandise at Walmart in Smithfield using stolen debit card numbers returned on Saturday taking even more merchandise.

Last Thursday, JoCoReport.com published photos of three suspects wanted by Smithfield Police and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. The trio had obtained debit and credit card numbers from unsuspecting victims and used the stolen numbers to make purchases at the Wal-mart on N. Brightleaf Boulevard.

On Saturday, the suspects made an online purchase at Walmart.com and then picked up the items in the store a short time later. The merchandise was valued at $1,004.88. Police said the victim was from Maine.

Authorities have not determined how the suspects are obtaining the victims credit card information but believe it may be from a credit card skimmer placed on a fuel pump.  A Skimmer was recently found on a fuel pump in the Selma area. Officers did not release the name of the store the skimming-device was located.

The suspects are driving a black SUV, possibly a Chevy Suburban.

If you recognize these men you are asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000 or Smithfield Police at 919-934-2121. Callers may remain anonymous.
