Johnston County has launched a new emergency notification system that will provide timely information to community members. The new system is called JoCo Alerts and is currently enrolling those interested in emergency alerts.
In cases such as approaching hurricanes, sheltering or evacuating, in a severe weather or hazardous materials event, assisting in locating a missing person or a disruption to utilities, the County will be able to call citizens in the affected areas and provide vital information. The emergency notification is free of charge.
Anyone who participated in the Johnston County CodeRED system prior to June 15th will need to register with the new system.
