Funeral Services Announced For Councilman Marlon Lee

SMITHFIELD – Funeral arrangements have been announced for Smithfield Town Councilman Marlon Lee who passed away Sunday, May 25 at the age of 51. Mr. Lee was also a coach and former assistant athletic director at Clayton High School.

A viewing will be held Sunday, June 1 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at St. Peter Church of Christ at 1011 Massey Street in Smithfield. Open remarks will be made from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2 at the Clayton High School Gymnasium. A viewing will take place from 11:00am until 12:00 Noon. The funeral will begin at 12:00 Noon.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Smithfield. Arrangements are being handled by Walter Sanders Funeral Home in Smithfield.

Two other events are scheduled this week to remember Mr. Lee. One of those events is a Red Balloon Release on Wednesday, May 28 at 6:00pm at Smith Collins Park in Smithfield.

On Thursday, May 29 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, a Celebration of Coach Marlon Lee will take place at the gymnasium at Clayton High. Former players, students, co-workers, friends and family will gather to share memories about Mr. Lee and how he impacted their lives.
