HOUSTON – For the second year in a row the young women of G-Force Robotics took home a major award at the FIRST Robotics World Championship, on April 20.

The team from Clayton, N.C. won the 2024 Engineering Inspiration award for the Curie Division. This award recognizes the outstanding efforts of a team to advance engineering in their community and is an automatic qualifier for the 2025 world championship.

The team, which consists of 12 high school girls from 10 different schools in Johnston and Wake counties, dedicated nearly 2,000 volunteer hours this past year to organizing and delivering multiple STEM programs throughout their community, showcasing their robot and FIRST at multiple STEM events across the state, and advocating for STEM education and funding at the highest levels.

Only eight teams out of 600 won the Engineering Inspiration award.

In 2023, the team won the FIRST Robotics World Championship Rookie All Star award.
