According to AAA, the average nationwide gasoline price today (Tuesday) is $2.60 a gallon. The statewide average across North Carolina is $2.38 a gallon. But at one Johnston County business, customers are lining up for prices below $2 a gallon.
Dollar General on Highway 301 in Four Oaks dropped prices to $1.97 a gallon over the weekend and on Monday prices fell again to $1.92 a gallon.
Customers have been lining up to take advantage of the low fuel prices. A manager said it was a company promotion and was not sure how long prices would remain this low.But until the prices go back up, drivers are headed to Four Oaks to top off their tanks.
AAA says average US gasoline prices are a nickel cheaper than last month and 21 cents cheaper than last year at this time.
