Teresa Grant has announced her candidacy for the Johnston County Board of Education. Grant, an 18 year resident of the Cleveland community, is a Chemistry Section Supervisor and Safety Officer with the NC Department of Agriculture.
She has two granddaughters that attend West View Elementary School. “I have witnessed first-hand the difference that our schools and teachers can make in a child’s life. My oldest grandchild struggled with reading before moving to Johnston County, but I watched her advance three reading levels within her first few weeks of attending West View.”
“I know that Johnston County teachers genuinely care about their students and do an excellent job of meeting their needs and communicating with the parents. We need to ensure we retain the good talent we have in this county and ensure they are equipped to do the best job possible.”
Grant is a charter member of the Community Baptist Church in the 40-42 area, where she attends with her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
Grant says she has been involved in the political system in Johnston County since 2009. “Our current (school) board has spent years building a collaborative spirit with our County Commissioners and Legislators, which has been key in meeting the needs of our students, teachers and schools. I want to continue the excellent job this board has done.”
