Smithfield Police are investigating a residential break-in reported in South Smithfield where firearms were stolen from a home.
The incident happened Monday in the 1200 block of South First Street. A resident reported that while they were away from home between 5:00am and 6:30pm someone forcibly entered their house and stole two handguns. Police said a 45 caliber Colt handgun and a 22 caliber Ruger handgun were stolen. The guns were valued at $1,100.
Captain R. Sheppard said no other items were removed from the residence.
The break-in appears to be isolated. Smithfield Police are investigating.
