Handcuffed Suspect Escapes Custody
KENLY – A suspect detained by law enforcement officers managed to escape. Around 8:19pm Sunday, a deputy with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to patrol the Town of Kenly, was dispatched to a report of a window that had just been shattered at Kenly Community Church.
The officer arrived at the church, at 300 S. College Avenue, and encountered a male. The individual allegedly admitted to breaking the window to the church and was detained and handcuffed.
While patting down the individual, the officer located a suspected handgun in their pants. While attempting to secure the weapon, the handcuffed suspect fled on foot. Other officers, including a K-9 unit, responded to the area but were unable to locate the person.
Deputies said the firearm located on the suspect turned out to be a BB gun. Authorities are working to identify the handcuffed suspect.
Damage to the church window was estimated at $135.

Wonder if the guy ever got out of the handcuffs?
Why of course he did. He is now the proud owner of set of handcuffs. Good job sheriff.
Wonder what our physical fitness standards are, and if they need to be revisited.
The Church is up for sale. vacant building. nothing worth stealing in it. so when the deputies catch up to the person, they are going to be facing more than vandalism charges.
