Parade to begin at 10am followed by service at 1pm
Harnett County will host its annual Veterans Day Parade and Service on Monday, November 11 in Lillington.
The event will celebrate local service members and veterans with hundreds of participants marching or riding along in the parade followed by a main service to recognize veterans.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m., following a route that includes Front and Main Streets in Lillington. At 1 p.m., a main service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Park in the Harnett County Government Complex located at 307 W. Cornelius Harnett Blvd., Lillington.
This year’s Grand Marshalls will include Captain Frank Kirk, last Commanding Officer of the USS Harnett County, and Mr. John Stone, crewmember of the USS Harnett County.
Participants in this year’s celebration will include local officials, county veterans’ groups and high school organizations, including marching bands and JROTC cadets. The flag presentation will be presented by the Harnett Central High School JROTC.
Individuals and organizations interested in participating in this year’s parade can complete the parade entry application form, which can be found at www.harnett.org/veterans. The deadline to submit the form is Friday, October 25, 2019.
