Head-On Collision Leaves Two Drivers Seriously Injured

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — Two drivers were seriously injured in a head-on collision around 4:30 p.m. Monday on N.C. Highway 210 near Lassiter Road.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling west on N.C. 210 when it ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected, causing the pickup to cross the centerline and collide head-on with an eastbound Chevrolet Cruze.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to WakeMed Raleigh after being extricated from the wreckage. Authorities said the driver remains in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to WakeMed Garner with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

No passengers were in either vehicle.

Investigators said alcohol and speed are not believed to have contributed to the collision.

Charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the pickup truck upon completion of the investigation. The identities of those involved have not been released.
