Highway 701 Reopens Following Collision

FOUR OAKS – Highway 701 South has reopened following a serious two vehicle collision. The 4:05pm Saturday crash occurred on Highway 701 South at Strickland’s Crossroads Road. A white passenger car and black SUV collided at the intersection.

Two ambulances transported patients to Sampson Regional Medical Center and one ambulance transported a patient to WakeMed in Raleigh.

The collision shutdown Highway 701 for more than an hour. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded and assisted with a traffic detour. The State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause.

The Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department also responded.

  1. Thank God Strickland’s Crossroads were having their BBQ plate sale for the fire department! Everyone was right there within seconds when it happened.
