The Highway Patrol is searching for a hit and run driver that struck a moped driver Thursday morning.
The accident happened around 6:00am on Highway 39 about 12 miles north of Selma.
The moped operator said he was traveling southbound on his way to work when he was struck from behind. Both the moped and the operator were thrown into a ditch. The vehicle that caused the accident never stopped.
The NC Highway Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist with the investigation and to collect evidence that may help them locate the hit and run vehicle. Several parts from the vehicle were reportedly found at the scene.
