Highway Patrol: Teen Running Across Buffalo Road Struck By Pickup Truck

CLAYTON, N.C. -A 15-year-old was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck.
According to the State Highway Patrol, troopers responded around 5:21 p.m. to an injury accident involving a pedestrian on Buffalo Road near NC 42 East.
Investigators said a 15-year-old male was running across Buffalo Road when he was struck by a southbound Ford F-150.

The truck was driven by a 49 year-old Selma woman. Troopers said the driver was slowing for a red light and traveling below the posted speed limit when the collision occurred.
Authorities said the teen was not crossing in a marked crosswalk.
The teenager was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not injured.

Multiple witnesses at the scene assisted investigators.
Troopers said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash, and no charges will be filed.

I have a 15 year old son myself and this is terrifying. I hope this kid is ok and has a speedy recovery. I also hope that the poor lady that hit him is also doing alright, I can only imagine how scary that must have been for her too. We need better crosswalks and sidewalks if this is going to be a water district. I know that there are sidewalks and crosswalks in certain areas, but I’m not sure about the specific section. I assume the kid was coming or going from the grocery bag to the Harris Teeter side…….
There are crosswalks RIGHT THERE but this kid didn’t use them.
The light was red btw 😭 I ate that s**t to
People drive TOO FAST on that road, at that time! I’m glad she was under 45 miles an hour but that is still too fast in that area.
I’ve had terrible time several days at that time trying to get out from CVS
😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣
🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡. I can see where you are a lot of the reason for road rage.
