Hit And Run Crash Injures Motorcyclist

SMITHFIELD – Police are searching for a hit and run vehicle involved in a collision with a motorcycle. The accident was reported around 9:13pm Tuesday in the parking lot of Lowes Home Improvement at the entrance to CVS Pharmacy.

Police said John Brinchek III of Smithfield was operating a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle that collided with the passenger side of a Ford SUV. Brinchek was ejected onto the pavement and sustained injuries to his arm and leg but declined medical treatment.

A witness told police the driver of the SUV slowed and nearly stopped after the collision, then suddenly accelerated leaving the scene.

Police are searching for a blue or black 2004-2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The SUV will be missing molding the right rear rocker panel molding which fell from the vehicle at the accident scene.

  1. I hate hit and run drivers. They have no spine to stand up and take responsibility for their actions. I hope they catch this SOB!
