SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police are investigating a homicide. The incident was reported around 5:00pm Monday at 2261 Kay Drive, off S. Brightleaf Boulevard.
Police Chief Pete Hedrick confirmed one person was found deceased at the scene. Officers are looking for a suspect in the case. Authorities do not believe the homicide was a random act.
The name of the deceased has not been released.

Again I will say that all this was put into motion a long time ago when Mike Scott was Chief of Police. He did not put many patrols in the area as well as he discouraged it. This location should be required to have security to get a police response sooner since this housing location has and had a bad past and present.
