Update 4:00pm Wednesday – A campaign spokesperson for Congressman David Rouzer issued a brief statement to WTSB saying, “Our internal polling bears no resemblance to what our opponent’s campaign is peddling.”
Wilmington – Tuesday afternoon, the campaign for Dr. Kyle Horton, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress, released a new poll that shows her leading Republican Rep. David Rouzer by two points, 40-38, in the race for North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District.
Including lean voters, Dr. Kyle moves into a four-point lead. Horton’s campaign says “growing voter dissatisfaction over Rep. Rouzer’s job performance gives Horton a clear path to victory on November 6, 2018.”
“With Washington politics in critical condition, Congressional leaders need to put country over party and personal gain,” said Dr. Horton. “Taxpayers are paying Congressional members a six-figure salary to actually legislate and proactively solve problems, not to stand idly by while families struggle paycheck to paycheck, healthcare costs skyrocket, and even our drinking water is contaminated.”
Conducted by Lincoln Park Strategies, the survey ran from August 18th through August 22nd, and reflects a sample size of 500 likely 2018 general election voters across the 7th Congressional District.
Dr. Horton added, “What’s clear in this poll is that voters are ready for a change, and believe in my brand of leadership that’s accountable to the people—not just to corporate PAC’s and big money donors. As Congresswoman, I will work to overcome partisan polarization and unite folks around the North Carolina values we all share.”
WTSB has reached out to Congressman Rouzer’s campaign for a comment. We will update our story once we have a comment from his spokesperson.
