A house fire in Smithfield displaced a family of five Tuesday morning.
The fire was reported shortly after 10:00am at 406 Barbour Road in West Smithfield.
Smithfield Fire Chief John Blanton said the blaze started in a back room. No one was at home at the time and no injuries were reported.
The Smithfield Fire Department was assisted by the Selma and Wilson Mill’s Fire Departments.
The home sustained approximately $20,000 in damage.
One adult and 4 children lived at the address. The Red Cross is assisting the family with a temporary place to stay.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Smithfield Police and the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office.
