Human Remains Found In Southern Johnston County

BENSON –  The NC State Bureau of Investigation recovered human remains late-Wednesday in southern Johnston County.  The remains are likely those of a missing woman, Rebecca Michelle Fellows.

Thursday morning, Hope Mills Police announced the arrests of Beverly Ann Harris, 36, of Raeford and Miguel Angel Navarro, 33, of Hope Mills for first degree murder, first degree rape, first degree kidnapping and conspiracy in the July 9, 2020 disappearance of Rebecca Fellows.

Both suspects are being held without bond in the Cumberland County Detention Center.

Hope Mills Police said they located human remains that are believed to be Rebecca Fellows, but they are still working to confirm the identity.  They did not disclose the location they were found, however, sources indicate the remains were found off of Wood’s Crossroads Road near I-40, south of Benson.

SBI agents remained on the scene Thursday continuing to search an area on Wood’s Crossroads Road for evidence.
