Illegal Chop Shop Operation Busted In Johnston County
CLAYTON – An illegal chop shop operating in Johnston County has been shut down following a search warrant and arrest.
Khiry Tayvon Reid, 34, of S. Sycamore Street, Fremont was arrested February 21 following the execution of a search warrant by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Raleigh Police.

Reid is accused of operating a vehicle chop shop from the garage of a home on Windsor Green Drive, off Vinson Road, near Clayton.
During the search warrant, officers said they found a stolen 2020 Dodge Charger that had been painted a different color and had an altered vehicle identification number (VIN) that came from another vehicle. Agents also found stolen parts from other vehicles at the location.
Reid was arrested for permitting a place used for a chop shop, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and altering a vehicle serial number.
Reid was also charged with trafficking opium or heroin, felony possession of a controlled substance, and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance.
