An online threat made against a Smithfield school turned out to be in another state.
Tuesday morning, someone saw an online post perceived to be a threat against a Smithfield school and thought it was Smithfield-Selma High School in Smithfield, NC. Local authorities were immediately dispatched to a possible bomb threat at SSS but authorities quickly learned the threat was actually made against a school in Smithfield, Virginia, 162 miles away.
Nearby Neuse Charter School was placed on a perimeter lockdown until officials learned the bomb threat was not at SSS.
