Father Charged Following Death Of 9-Week-Old Infant
DUNN, N.C. — An arrest has been made in the death of a 9-week-old infant in Dunn.
Terryion Donald Byrd, 23, of Evans Mills, New York, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his child. He is being held in the Harnett County Detention Center without bond.
Emergency responders were called Monday, June 1, to a residence on West Broad Street after the infant was found unresponsive. The child died a short time later at Betsy Johnson Hospital.
According to the Dunn Police Department, preliminary findings from the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the child died from blunt force trauma to the head and multiple rib fractures. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Police requested assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation in processing the scene.
Authorities have released few additional details about what led to the child’s injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.

I was at the hospital when they got the news that, their baby had passed. Mom was Distraught, dad had no emotions at all. It’s something I’ll never ever forget. Prayers for the family.
