Maintenance work along the median on Interstate 40 between Exits 306 and 309 near the Johnston-Wake County line near Garner will require the closure of the inside lane in both directions.
The closure, for the safety of the crews repairing the median shoulders, will be in place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday.
No lane closures are planned for Friday, but if needed, the work could resume early next week.
The NC DOT urges motorists to slow down, watch for construction vehicles in the area, pay extra attention, and expect possible delays.
