SELMA – At least three people were hospitalized, two with serious injuries, following a five vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Interstate 95. The collision happened around 3:00pm as southbound traffic had stopped due to construction work.
A tractor trailer stopped in a southbound travel lane was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The pickup caught on fire but the two occupants in the truck escaped without injuries.
Three other vehicles were involved in the chain reaction wreck. Two people in a silver Kia rear-ended in the collision were seriously hurt.
Southbound lanes reopened around 4:30pm.
A separate accident occurred in the northbound lanes near the first accident scene. No injuries were reported in that collision and the vehicles were quickly moved to the side of the interstate.
