The Smithfield Town Council took no action after emerging from a closed session Wednesday night to discuss the hiring of a new town manager.
The special called meeting was held behind closed doors at the Smithfield Town Hall. After emerging, the council agreed to continue the meeting on Monday, Feb. 29th at 5:30pm. Wednesday’s meeting was held to interview candidates for the position.
The council is searching for a replacement for former manager Paul Sabiston who was fired in a 4-to-3 vote in August 2015. Sabiston had been the manager for just over 3 years. Smithfield has had 7 managers in the last 30 years.
