Jail Inmate Accused Of Attacking Officer, Making Threats

SMITHFIELD — An inmate at the Johnston County Detention Center is facing new charges after allegedly assaulting a detention officer on November 24.
Amber Gold Moss, 30, with addresses in Selma and Kenly, was originally booked into the jail on October 4 by Kenly Police on a charge of simple assault after allegedly throwing hot coffee on another person.
According to authorities, a detention officer was preparing to escort Moss’s cellmate to court when Moss allegedly attacked the officer, striking her multiple times in the chest and abdomen and attempting to bite her arm. Moss also reportedly threatened the officer, stating, “I am going to beat your a**.”
The officer sustained injuries to her hand and wrist during the incident.
Moss has been charged with felony assault causing physical injury on a detention employee and misdemeanor communicating threats.

She’s actually a really nice person but she definitely needs to be in a mental institution and not jail but unfortunately that’s a lot of inmates here, it’s just joco mental institution not detention center smfh
That’s everywhere, JOCO isn’t to blame, 60%+ of inmates in state prisons receive some type of mental health treatment. But people still need to be held responsible for their actions. To normalize the behavior is to condone it.
