April Stephens, President of the Johnston County Association of Realtors (JCAR), was a guest on AM-1090 WTSB Radio on Thursday. She was interviewed by Lynda Carroll.
Stephens discussed the good news about the Johnston County real estate market, which is up 30 percent in sales over the previous year. Also the median sale price for homes is up 15.7 percent.
At the same time there is a negative 3.8 percent in home listings which can quickly be leading to a seller’s market. April and Lynda both agreed that this is a good time to consider selling property. April gave statistics why it is more cost effective to always use a professional realtor when buying or selling property.
Another topic discussed was the downsizing movement. April stated that some real estate buyers of various ages are looking to simplify lifestyles. They want less yard and less upkeep in certain instances. She sees a trend in people wanting to reduce costs and square footage in order to accomplish this.
