JCC Enrollment Momentum Continues
Fall curriculum enrollment surpasses 7,300 students as full-time equivalent enrollment rises 24 percent

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Johnston Community College’s fall enrollment continued climbing as its second eight-week session began October 19, surpassing 7,300 curriculum students. Full-time equivalent enrollment, or FTE, was up 24 percent compared to last fall.
The milestone comes during JCC’s shift to primarily in eight-week sessions, which aim to improve student outcomes and place renewed emphasis on the transitions students navigate throughout a semester, including starting courses, planning their next classes and connecting with support.
JCC has invested in technology, infrastructure and organizational improvements to strengthen that experience as enrollment grows.
“Our growth challenges us to think differently about how we serve students,” said JCC President Dr. Vern L. Lindquist. “As we move through these eight-week sessions, our focus is on helping students take their next step and keep making progress toward their goals.”
This fall marks the College’s fourth consecutive fall term of double-digit enrollment percentage increases. The growth has also drawn local, state, and national attention.
