Johnston Community College has received a $50,000 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant award for 2016-17.
LSTA grants are federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services that are awarded by the State Library of North Carolina to eligible North Carolina libraries.
JCC’s project aims to enhance library resources for Johnston County Middle and Early College students. Specifically, the funds will be used to purchase 1,100 additional grade-level print and digital resources. The project also includes the development and delivery of a series of student workshops on research methods and sources.
The availability and the awareness of the new print and digital resources is expected to increase circulation by 25 percent and will also ensure that all Early College students use the college’s library instructional services.
