CLAYTON – The Town of Clayton has hired Dolores Gill as Deputy Town Manager. Gill currently serves as Chief of Operations and Communication for Johnston County Public Schools. She brings 30 years of experience and knowledge of the Clayton community to the role. She will step into the role March 1.
Gill has served the school system in a variety of leadership roles, including as Chief of Operations and Communications, Chief of Staff, Area Superintendent, Elementary Area Supervisor and School Principal. She began her career with JCPS in Clayton in 1996 and served as the principal of West Clayton Elementary School for five years before moving into district leadership.
“I am excited and honored to return to Clayton to serve as Deputy Town Manager,” Gill said. “Clayton is a special place with wonderful people, and I am eager to work extremely hard to serve the needs of our town and citizens.”
Gill received two master’s degrees and her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University. Some of her specialty training includes Crisis Intervention, Ruby Payne Understanding Poverty Modules, Dufour’s Professional Learning Communities, TregoEd Decision Making, Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and the Aspiring Superintendents Program. “I am ready to work alongside the leadership team and staff within the Town of Clayton and to a part of the great future of our growing town,” Gill stated.
