Johnston County Public Schools will spend $437,280 to lease 72 mobile classroom units an additional year.

The public school system currently utilizes 187 mobile units across the district due to a lack of school capacity.

The lease on 72 of the 187 units is currently up for renewal with Box Modular Building Systems, formerly Vanguard Modular. The board agreed to extend the lease for the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

  1. Lol. We need a new construction supervisor. Someone that has been in the trade most of their life. JCPS could have bought these units 2-3 times These contracts have been goin on for years That’s money they will never get back They should have bought some and when the day came when they no longer needed them they could have sold them and put the money to good use

  2. But let’s keep approve building homes but schools cant be built fast enough..(hence the mobile units) I am all for growth BUT slow down !!

  3. For the love of all things holy, start building our schools up and not out!!!!! Why can we not add 2nd floors to our elem schools and middle schools? Why must we build these moronic schools the way they have been?!!! We voiced this concern to the school board back in 2007 and still doing the same stupid nonsense.
Not omit mention any person can gain entry to a mobile unit and obliterate our kids!!!! SMH. It’s a safety issue as well. Wake up. We have the biggest idiots on our school board year after year.
