Five businesses were broken into Thursday morning and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office says all 5 appear to be connected.
Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said three businesses at 6275 Highway 50 North, Benson were burglarized around 1:36am. They included Big Kev’s Performance, Stokes Surveying & Map and RCOM Inc. Glass doors were shattered at the 3 businesses to gain entry. A $40 Yeti cup was taken from RCOM but no items were reported missing from the other two businesses.
Around 3:45am, deputies discovered break-ins at Dominos Pizza and Two Cousins Italian Pizza & Pasta at 12330 Highway 210, Benson at the I-40 interchange. A safe was stolen from Dominos. Officials said a small but undisclosed amount of cash was also taken from the two businesses.
Sheriff’s detectives are looking into a six but unrelated break-in reported Wednesday at Hartley Gun Shop on Old Cornwallis Road near Princeton. No items were reported missing but the intruders did cause some minor damage.
Smithfield Police are investigating a break-in discovered around11:00pm Wednesday at the Brightleaf Flea Market at 2320 South Brightleaf Boulevard. Police Captain R. Sheppard said items were stolen from at least one vendor. Detectives plan to talk with all the vendors to see if more items are missing. Police are looking for two suspects in that case.
