The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a fire at a meth lab near Princeton Sunday afternoon.
Two deputies went to a home on Brewer Lane in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant on 29 year-old Ronnie Wayne Baggett of that address.
When officers arrived they spotted Baggett in the back yard, according to Tammy Amaon, Public Information Officer, with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Baggett allegedly lit a match, threw it into a storage building, which burst into flames, then fled on foot.
The fire department was called to extinguish the blaze. Afterwards the meth lab was found inside, Amaon said.
Baggett was located by deputies and charged with several offenses including manufacturing methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, possess-distribute meth precursors, and first-degree arson.
Baggett was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $400,000 bond.
Damage to the building was placed at $1,000. Damage to an adjacent mobile home was estimated at $5,000.
