JOHNSTON COUNTY – Allison Bissette, a Captain with Johnston County Emergency Services, and her daughter Avery received an all-expenses-paid weeklong vacation to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, August 30 through September 5.

“Disconnecting from the tasks and responsibilities of everyday life is something that is so important for our families – and our main goal,” said Mallory Dumond, Founder and President of Rewarding Responders. “We hope with our trips, we can help lighten the selfless burden that our community first responders carry.” .

Their vacation included lodging, admission to all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, food and beverages, souvenirs, and even exclusive experiences.

“Rewarding Responders gave me the opportunity to truly ‘unplug’ from work, something I am rarely able to do and just focus on time with my daughter, Avery,” said Allison Bissette. “The things we were able to do and the memories we made will last a lifetime. I am forever grateful to be able to watch Avery’s face light up with excitement while in Disney. I admittedly loved being a ‘kid’ again with her. I know I could have never been able to take a trip like this without Rewarding Responders.”

Rewarding Responders exists to reward first responders and their families with all-expenses-paid vacations. Family vacations afford first responders time to unplug, reset, build family bonds, and create lifelong memories with their families. Family vacations are made possible by grants and tax-deductible donations from supporters from all over the country.

Nominations for Rewarding Responders 2025 First Responder Family Vacations will open early in 2025. For more information and to support, visit RewardingResponders.org.

  1. Allison deserved this so much! She has such a big heart and is always striving to make a difference in her community. She continuously looks for ways to make Emergency Management better so that first responders can better serve the citizens. I’ve known her for several years now and I can confidently say that it would be hard to find someone else who dedicates their life to their work like she does. It’s awesome to see such a great person get this experience. Great job friend!
