Johnston Community College Welcomes Vice President Of Instruction

SMITHFIELD – Dr. Marc David is Johnston Community College’s new Vice President of instruction and Chief Academic Officer. David comes to JCC from Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC). During his eight-year tenure at FDTC, he served as the College’s Vice President of Academic Affairs and Associate Vice President of Arts and Sciences.

David received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College, his Master of Arts degree from North Carolina Central University, and his PhD from Syracuse University. He has been employed with higher education institutions for more than 30 years and received many service awards during that time.

“We are so pleased to announce that Dr. David is joining the team,” says JCC President Dr. Vern Lindquist. “We look forward to having his experience and leadership at our institution while we are in this period of accelerated growth and student-focused innovation,” Lindquist adds.

“I am excited to begin this chapter of my career at Johnston Community College,” David says. “I love being a part of something where I can effect change. I know that along with the rest of the leadership team, we can take JCC to great heights,” David adds.

David is also a published author whose books include Coming Full Circle: Memoirs of a Campus Life Dean and No Cream in My Coffee (Nook Press).

David has two daughters and a two-year old granddaughter. He begins his new role at JCC on August 16th, 2023.
