Johnston County Deputies Investigate Deadly Shooting Near Clayton

CLAYTON, N.C. — One person is dead and another injured following a shooting early Saturday morning off NC 42 East near Clayton.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Valley Field Drive in the Flowers community. When they arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

One victim was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital. The second victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the case is being investigated as a homicide. One person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Investigators said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active, and additional details have not yet been released.
