SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County Education Foundation (JCEF) has administered over $90,000 in student scholarships to the Johnston County Public Schools class of 2024. In partnership with other community organizations, including the Central Rotary Club of Johnston County, JCEF has awarded scholarships to nearly 100 students representing all 8 of the county’s high schools. These students will use their scholarships to help cover the cost of tuition and other expenses as they work to achieve their higher education goals.
“Our foundation is proud to help these students reach and achieve their goals for their future in education,” Darla Peedin, Executive Director of JCEF said. “We are so thankful to all the donors and sponsors of our scholarship program. Together, we are promoting innovation and involvement for high school seniors in Johnston County.”
Several students were recipients of long-standing JCEF scholarships, including the James L. “Jimmy” Earp Memorial Golf Scholarship, the Tana S Brinke Future Educators Memorial Scholarship, the Joyce Wade Scholarship, and dozens of others.
Thanks to the support of community organizations and local businesses, a record number of students received scholarships in 2024.
Over the next several weeks, JCEF will be featuring several scholarship recipients on their social media pages.
Founded in 1991, the Johnston County Education Foundation promotes innovation, involvement, and excellence in public schools by prudently administrating privately-funded programs, grants, and scholarships.
