SMITHFIELD – Johnston County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 88 came together to help 600 needy Johnston County school students, on Monday.
In recent years, FOP members had collected backpacks to distribute to students before the start of each new school year. Several other non-profit organizations now distribute free backpacks, so lodge members decided to fill another need.
They learned a number of JCPS students are homeless and find it difficult to obtain basic hygiene items. FOP members recently collected soap, shampoo and other basic essentials and placed them in 600 FOP-labeled bags.
FOP Lodge 88 President Randy Ackley said, “This is our aim, this is our focus, for our organization to build relationships between law enforcement and kids. We can’t do it without people who donate and volunteer. We are thankful for all their efforts.”
The bags were distributed this week to every public school in Johnston County for distribution over Thanksgiving to any student in need.
How do we get it. We are in need. This is the first our family is hearing of this. We never got any info from the school, community or Clayton.
It says HOMELESS children
If you read the whole article it says for any kid in need just not home with children
Michael, usually the schools will make a list of families they know of that have needs and make sure those families are provided for. You can ASK your school Administration if they can provide you with assistance.
Michael, what do you and your family need? I will help any way I can.
