Johnston County Man Arrested For Sex Offender Violation
JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Johnston County man listed on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry has been arrested on a charge of failing to report a change of address.
Ronald Christopher Adams, 43, was taken into custody April 29, 2026, after deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office located him and served an outstanding warrant.

According to the sheriff’s office, the charge stems from July 2024, when deputies conducted a routine compliance check at Adams’ last registered address in Smithfield and determined he no longer lived there. Authorities said Adams failed to notify officials of his new address, a requirement under state law and a condition of his registration.
Court records show Adams was convicted in 2002 of taking indecent liberties with a minor in Johnston County and was required to register as a sex offender.
