Johnston County Man Faces 18 Felony Charges Involving Minor
JOHNSTON COUNTY – A man from western Johnston County was arrested on November 3 on multiple charges of sexual abuse involving a child.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office began investigating George Michael Smith of Pleasant Pine Drive, Angier, after receiving a report on August 16, 2025.
Following the investigation, 39-year-old Smith was arrested and charged with nine counts of indecent liberties with a child and nine counts of statutory rape. Authorities say the alleged abuse occurred over a seven-year period, starting when the child was about seven years old.
Smith is currently being held at the Johnston County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.

Kid was Seven years old! This person is absolutely crazy. Whatever the most time he can get should be doubled if not tripled. This child’s life will never be the same.
We all know what he needs.
Abhorrent behavior- if this man did what he is accused of. So from age 7-14, this poor child was abused. Nine times- average once per year. Half the child’s life was spent fearing their abuser. All child rapists should be sent to a special prison. One made just for them. No other criminals – just child rapists. Special punishment.
He will more than likely get some real special punishment once he gets to prison Once the rest of the population figures out why he’s there.
Unbelivable! What is going on In the minds of men who do this to a child starting at seven years old! She will never be the same ! You never heard of so much abuse when I was growing up. ! Which was in the sixties. The devil working overtime in our world today!

Devil isn’t working overtime today. Back then it would have been impossible to come forward with something like this as a young female or even a grown female. Females didn’t have a voice to defend themselves because of a male dominated society, legal system, and political structure. There is no telling how much abuse went unreported back then due to the fact that it was “her word vs his word” and the lack of technology for evidence collection. Horrible to say and think about that but it’s the truth. Finally, if this man did commit these heinous acts or even a small portion of these charges, he needs the death penalty or the whole prison should be told why he is in there. That way the prisoners can punish him because the justice system failed to punish him accordingly.
It happened more then too you just didn’t talk about it like folks do now.
Devil definitely is working OT … but you didn’t hear about in the 60s and 70s because news was different. Human trafficking and child rape has always been around. This man is the lowest form of human life … but he is not as new a phenoma as we would like to think.
I will never understand the justice system!! There will be no justice. He has bond. He will get out, and it will be another girl 20 years younger than he. The system is Barney and Fife!!
I agree. That’s why things like this continue to happen.
He’s a demon from the pits of hell that has been walking among us…devouring his prey! He deprived her of her innocence, trust and a normal childhood…her life is different now…so give him a life…a full life in prison.
He needs to be put to death

He deserves to be ******** for what he done. In prison, he better hope that the guards don’t put him in general population. For, years (men) people who is or been in prison will tell you that child molesters are worst of the worst, it puts a target on their back. I (male) been through the same situation when I was about 7 1/2 or 8 years old, it went on about a year or a year and a half. It was a female that molested me, I’m now 45 years old and I’m still scarred from that time and still haven’t got over that.
This monster deserves the worst punishment you can get with death penalty being easy he should have to endur what that poor child had too for 7 yrs being scared and running from her abuser hate to be him on judgement day
I work in a profession that forces me to deal with people outside of my typical “bubble”. It has been eyeopening. Be careful out there. Give trust to no one…make them earn it. And make them work very hard to earn that trust. There are many wolves in sheep clothing. Protect yourself and your loved ones. John 14:6.
NO bonding company would dare risk their $$$ on this guy. And if/when he is found guilty his life will not be worth living. The inmates take a very dim view of this behavior and he will receive the same treatment his victims did.
This is why I support the death penalty.

Put it in jail with Bubba. This child will never get real justice. Death penalty so it (he aint human) can never touch another child.
