Johnston County Man Sold Stolen Cars To Salvage Yard, JCSO Says

FOUR OAKS – An investigation into the theft of several vehicles from a Four Oaks area home has led to an arrest. Jeffrey Wayne Brooks, age 45, of the 1800 block of King Mill Road, Four Oaks was arrested January 2.

On September 20, 2023, a 66 year-old man reported three vehicles and two mortar mixers at his Hollingsworth Road address had been stolen. The stolen vehicles included a Honda Civic, GMC Sierra, and Ford F-250.

Authorities were reportedly able to connect Brooks to the theft after two of the three vehicles were taken by the suspect to a Johnston County salvage yard and sold as scrap metal. At last report, the GMC and mortar mixers had not been recovered.

Brooks was charged with two counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, and two counts of felony conspiracy. He was also served with six warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of possession of methamphetamine, driving on a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, fictitious registration, expired/no inspection, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
