Johnston County Public Schools 2022 Job Fair Draws Large Crowd Of Applicants

BENSON – More than 100 candidates attended the Johnston County Public Schools 2022 Job Fair on Saturday, April 2, at West Johnston High.

“We were thrilled to showcase all of the wonderful opportunities Johnston County Public Schools and Johnston County have to offer,” said Brian Vetrano, JCPS Chief of Human Resources. “Events like these are crucial in ensuring we have the best and brightest individuals on our team to begin each school year.”

More than 200 educators pre-registered for the event, which was the first in-person hiring fair the district has held in the last two years. 

Held in the West Johnston High cafeteria, representatives from each of the district’s 48 schools were on hand to answer questions, accept resumes, and offer contracts to qualified applicants. 

School representatives showed off their school pride with decorations, mementos, and mascots.

Ashley Gilbert traveled all the way from Syracuse, NY to attend the JCPS Job Fair. Gilbert, her husband, and two small children are pulling up stakes and moving to the area. In fact, they have realtors getting their house ready to sell. 

Gilbert planned to fly to NC to attend the Job Fair, but her flight was canceled due to the severe weather earlier in the week. After trying several different options to get as close to Raleigh as possible to no avail, Gilbert jumped in her car and headed south.

“This was an opportunity that I couldn’t miss,” said Gilbert. “I told my husband that I wasn’t coming back unless we are set to move to our new home.”

Gilbert was one of 16 participants who were offered an early contract to begin working with Johnston County Public Schools in the fall.
